Q: How do I place an order?

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

Our website accepts payments via PayPal or via all of the major credit cards. We also accept payments via Money Order. Please email for details if you would like to send a money order.

Q: How do you process my credit card? When do you charge my credit card?

Our website collects your credit card information and verifies this information with your bank or credit card company. This is know as a "pre-authoriation." We pre-authorize the amount of the order on your card, but we do NOT charge the card. Some cards, especially debit cards use the pre-authorization to "lock" the funds in your account. This is a bank policy, we do not control this. We do not charge your card until your order is shipped.

Q: What are the steps in the order process?

Steps in the order process

  1. Place the order through the website - You will receive an email confirming your order
  2. On the same or next business day we will import your order into our inventory management system.
  3. We will pack your order and charge your credit card if appropriate - You will receive a shipping confirmation email.

Q: When will my order be processed?

Orders placed Monday - Friday from midnight until 1 p.m. Central time will be processed the same business day. (A business day is any day Monday - Friday that is not a US Postal or National Holiday). Orders placed after 1 p.m. will be processed the following business day. Orders placed between 1 p.m. Friday and Monday morning will be processed on following Monday.

Q: Are the items that I ordered in stock?

If you can add it to the cart, then it is in stock!
We make every effort to ensure that everything listed for sale on the web site is available for immediate shipment, but in the event of high demand some items may sell out before they can be removed from the website. In the event of a backorder, the buyer will be informed of the estimated time of the backorder and can decide whether to wait for the order to ship complete, or cancel the order for a full refund. In the event that the backorder is expected to be more than two weeks, the order may be canceled and refunded automatically. As with everything that we do, communication is key, and the buyer will be fully informed throughout the process.

Q: I made a mistake on my order, how can I fix it?

If your order has not been processed, then we will be happy to change it for you. Email us and let us know what you would like to change. NOTE: The phones are very busy during the day, email is always the best way to contact us. Once the order is processed and you receive the shipment notification email, we may not be able to change your order.

We will send a shipping notification via email when we ship your order. The shipping notification email will contain tracking information about your order. Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

Shipping Questions and Policies
Q: When will you ship my order?

We understand that your time is important, and ship everything as quickly as possible. Items purchased Monday through Friday before 1 p.m. US Central time are generally shipped the same business day. Items purchased between 1 p.m. and midnight are shipped the next business day. We send an email when you check out to confirm your order, and we send another email to confirm order shipment. The order shipment confirmation will contain the details about your shipment and tracking information.

Q: How will you ship my order?

Default shipping charges will appear on your order summary as you complete the information on our secure order form. Shipping confirmation and tracking number will be provided to you via email. We normally ship via USPS Priority Mail with no signature required. Signature confirmation is available for an additional charge.

International Flat Rate Envelope now available for shipments under 1 pound - $21.50 to most countries
Free Upgrade from Priority to Express for International shipments over $150 merchandise value - does not include flat rate envelope pricing, Priority Mail International flat rate will NOT be upgraded to Express.

We ship most orders via the US Postal Service (USPS). USPS does not guarantee the delivery time for most shipments. Priority Mail items generally arrive in 2-3 days, but may take up to 10 days to arrive in some cases. Express Mail is "overnight to most destinations," but this is not guaranteed. If timely shipping is critical, we advise the use of UPS shipping.

Q: What happens if my order is delayed or lost?

If you believe that your order is delayed or lost, please email us immediately. Priority Mail generally takes 3 days in the US, but may take longer - MUCH longer during the holiday season and other busy time.

USPS Express mail is guaranteed for 1-2 days to most locations in the US. It is NOT always guaranteed for overnight delivery.

Postal Investigations:
We can not start postal investigations until a certain number of days has passed. Here are the timeframes for postal investigations:
Express Mail US - 3 days
Priority Mail US - 10 days
Priority Mail International - 30 days
Express Mail US - 3 days
Express Mail International - 6 days

Priority Mail International and Express Mail International are NOT trackable. Some countries use the tracking numbers once the package arrives in-country. It is not possible for us to determine the location of any international packages sent via USPS once they leave our store. We can not start a postal investigation until the timeframes listed above have passed.

International Shipping
Due to the large amount of fraud from International transactions, most international shipments will be held for three days before shipment. We will only ship to the name and address on file with the credit card company or PayPal. These restrictions do not apply to existing customers. We also make exceptions to this policy on a case-by-case basis, generally for CPF members and eBay customers. Please email us for details concerning this policy.

Not all shipping methods are available to all countries. We will contact you if your chosen shipping method is unavailable and let you know what your shipping options are.

There is no insurance available on international shipments. International packages are shipped at the sole risk of the buyer. While we have experienced a better than 98% delivery rate on Global Priority Airmail shipments, Global Express Mail is faster and has better tracking. You can select your shipping method and cost at the time of checkout. We do not ship via Registered Mail.

Q: What are the shipping holidays?

Holiday Shipping:
We normally ship via USPS Priority Mail in the US and via USPS Priority Mail International to International destinations. During the holiday season packages take MUCH longer to deliver than normal. During two weeks before Christmas, it has been our experience that Priority Mail packages take up to 10 days...so they will not make it in time for Christmas. We recommend USPS Express Mail or UPS overnight, two day or three day service. Even these services can take longer as Christmas gets closer, so please check the appropriate website for details.

Q: What is your return policy?

Your satisfaction is very important to us, and you can return anything that you purchase for up to 30 days after purchase. All returns require an RMA number. Please send an email to sales@lighthound.com and request an RMA number. If there is a problem with the item, we will refund the full purchase cost including shipping, and in most cases the return shipping cost. If there is no problem with the item, we will refund the original purchase price only. NEW IN BOX items that are returned will incur a 10% restocking fee. For tracking reasons, it is not possible for us to give RMA numbers over the phone, you MUST email or fax us for an RMA number. After 30 days we follow the manufacturer guidelines for returns, many items must be sent directly to the manufacturer for return after the first 30 days. Please contact us for details.

Q: What are the international shipping restrictions?

Some items, including lithium batteries, are prohibited for shipment outside of the United States. If one of the prohibited items is part of an order that is shipping to an international destination, including an APO or FPO address, that item will be canceled and the rest of the order will ship.
