We have a HUGE number of Scorpions here. I bought this drop-in to replace a XR-e-Cree drop-in that gave up the ghost.
The highly polished reflector does a much better job than the xr-e did. Easily trippeling the distance I can find the little buggers in the grass. It is very impressive! Runs well on both rcr123's as well as the 18650's.
Wish a bulb life was given in the discription.

This UV drop-in is the best priced, name brand module I could find. The range seems very good for a UV flashlight, the "violet" light is visible on surfaces up to about 10 - 15 feet. On white and fluorescent surfaces it's probably about double that or more (There isn't much around me to test it on). For my use, it's mostly just a cool novelty but I can see it being useful for finding stains and such. Overall it's a great price and product. Lighthound's service is Amazing as well.
